Sophomore Year

15 10 2010

We haven’t posted in decades so here’s some photos from the last couple of months :) Enjoy!

O’Malley’s Golf Course. We went there for the first weekends after we got back from Norway.

First Seawolves Hockey game of the season, they played against the second best team in the nation, North Dakota. It ended with extra time and penalty shootout. We lost the penalties, but we can’t be disappointed after laying under 1-5 after first half!!

Andreas testing out new couches and love seats, they had some seriously comfy stuff there =)

On top of Flat Top. The view is awesome, you can see the city of Anchorage from the top, and we were lucky to have such a nice weather when we went hiking.

Last weekend we went to the Park Strip to play some tennis. We both played like shit, but it was fun!

This is from this morning.. Sooooooo cold!

We are back :P

After our last weekend off, we have been skiing in ALYESKA. The mountains here are beautiful shooting up from the ocean.

On our way to Alyaska 9 am

We have had all sorts of conditions… from 40 inch powder, to soft groomed snow. The training has been really good even though the snow could have been harder and not so sugarish.

We also experienced a real Thanksgiving, with great food made by one of our teammates and had 12 people over at our house for a dinner party! It was a lot of fun.

Now we’re going in to Finals week, and we’re pretty much going to spend our last week at the library studying.

On thursday after or last exam, we are going to race 4 races up in Alyeska. Thursday night, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully we will have some cheerleaders there to cheer for us :P and on monday we are both going home for christmas. Right after we land in Norway we’re going straight to Trysil for two races and then we’re having a break with family and friends. Its going to be sooo good!

We will let you all know how our finals go, and how the races go ;)

peace out!

Last Weekend off

After an awesome camp in Colorado we finally had our first days of skiing here in Alaska. Alyeska doesn’t open until next week so we had to ski in a small ski resort called Hilltop. We can really feel that the winter is coming with temperatures down to – 15 degrees Celsius. It is freakish cold up here! Hilltop is an extremely small hill and it’s not very steep so we just had a lot of drills on one ski.

The upcoming weekend will be our last weekend off. Were going to enjoy it with some home made sushi and sake with some of the girls on the team.

Two Norwegians in Alaska

19 11 2009

A sunny day in Anchorage, Alaska. It is the 18th. of August 2009 and two Norwegians have just arrived from Oslo without any knowledge about housing or which classes to take for the next four years. Kim Ringvold (a former Norwegian Seawolf) picks them up at the airport and drives them to Halfdan and Egil’s house. After many if’s and but’s Borad ends up staying at their house, also called “The Norwegian’s House”.

After two and a half months of hard dry land training we finally were going down to Colorado for a 10 days ski camp. Unfortunately Christopher had some problems getting a clearance from the NCAA so he had to stay in Anchorage and continue his dry land training. He also trained with the Nordic team a couple of days and really showed them how it’s done!

Down in Colorado, Andreas really showed that he hadn’t forgot how to ski by being fastest in both SL and GS. The Seawolves and Utah Utes made a little internal SL race down in Colorado, and we (Seawolves) had 3 guys before Utah’s best guy.

A pose from Andreas

It’s now exactly 3 months since we arrived. Three more weeks of hard work in both school and training and we can take a well deserved vacation.

C-ya!
